Online instruction can be an alternative educational option for some students and there may be courses available through the Missouri Course Access Program (MOCAP).
MOCAPEligible students may seek to enroll in DESE approved virtual classes with the Ferguson-Florissant School District, through MOCAP in accordance with law. When approved, the district will pay the cost of enrollment in the MOCAP virtual course as long as the course, in combination with other courses, does not exceed full-time attendance.
In accordance with law, a student is eligible to take a MOCAP course through the district if all of the following are met:
High school students planning to participate in collegiate athletics must inform their school counselor so that NCAA requirements may be reviewed.
The principal will work with the appropriate school team members and the student's family to ensure that the course request aligns with the student's Individual Career & Academic Plan (ICAP).
Enrollment in online coursework is at the discretion of the principal and/or IEP or 504 team. Failure to receive permission for enrollment from the school principal will release the district of any financial obligations for paying for student participation in MOCAP.
Please note: Applications received after the 2nd week of the semester will be considered on a case by case basis.
Academic Integrity and MonitoringEdgenuity teachers monitor student activity and progress, including the use of third-party websites or applications, for any indication of academic dishonesty, including the use of bots or other unauthorized tools, to complete coursework.
Repeated incidents of bot usage will be considered a violation of the virtual learning program's academic integrity policy. In such cases, the student will be removed from the virtual learning program and required to return to in-person instruction. Re-enrollment in the virtual learning program will not be permitted.
