Goal 19. Demonstrate an integrated communications plan aligned to the FFSD Strategic Plan and MSIP 6. Build communication efforts to achieve desired behaviors and outcomes.

Indicator A. The FFSD community demonstrates a high level of satisfaction with District's goals and programs as evidenced by survey data, communication audits, and other measures.

A. Facilitate meaningful and two-way open communications with FFSD students and parents. Increased opportunities with the use of ThoughtExchange survey tool and community meetings, community forums and Town Halls to facilitate better two-way communication. Researching possible communication platforms to increase teacher/parent communication especially as it relates to ELL families.

B. The district’s accomplishments, plans and issues are routinely shared through district and external communication channels. Superintendent/Leadership Forums to answer questions from stakeholders and update the community. The district shares accomplishments, plans and issues through district and external communication channels. Channels include: internal district messaging, monthly staff 'Insider' e-Newsletter, monthly external 'One District United' e-Newsletter, social media, earned media through television and print outlets, video storytelling with Shared Images of Success video series. Superintendent/Leadership forums held throughout the 2022-23 school year that include: Listening Sessions, Town Halls, State of the District, and Community/Staff Forums.

C. Increase recognition of students and staff internally and externally for their accomplishments. The district has increased recognition of students and staff through the following: Board of Education Quarterly Recognition Meetings, Teacher Proud Tuesday Series, Support Staff of Year Program, United Awards Recognition Gala and School Staff Recognition Dates (ie: Bus Driver Appreciation, Teacher Appreciation, Custodial Appreciation, etc.) Additional recognitions being planned for the 23-24 school year to include years of service within the district.

D. Responsibly distribute school information to students and parents through effective communication tools in a consistent and efficient manner. Increased the frequency of sharing district initiatives with building principals in an effort to increase messages sent from the building level as well as the district level. Implemented a newsletter platform (Smore) for the 23-23 school year that all building principals can access to increase effective communication with students and parents from the building level. Will continue to work with building and department level leaders to enhance communication tools.

E. Enhance communications with staff making information acquisition and dissemination more frequent, efficient, and uniform. Implemented a monthly staff e-newsletter to share more frequent communication with staff. Will continue to work with staff on effective ways to enhance staff communication.

F. Enhance communication plans with the 55+ community through a specifically designed newsletter, breakfast event, etc. Beginning during 2022-23 school year, a specifically designed e-newsletter geared toward elected officials, clergy and senior 55+ community members is shared quarterly. Additional plans to create a 55+ Club. That will enable FFSD’s senior residents to enjoy school athletic events, plays and musicals free of charge with a 55+ card for free access. Additional engagement plans to include a senior breakfast event tentatively planned for Fall 2023.

G. Annually evaluate communication effectiveness through surveys, communication audits and other data collection measures. Preliminary feedback from staff and stakeholders from community meetings, focus groups, and ThoughtExchange data have been considered to evaluate communication effectiveness. Additional engagement scheduled for 23-24SY.
